Water Conservation

On March 13, the Frederick Van Patten Chapter convened an online meeting. The meeting began with Mr. Daniel Dawson on water facts and conservation tips. Mr. Dawson has been employed with Searcy Water Utilities for over 37 years, and is also a master naturalist-an individual who focuses on growth of plants native to a specific region. Mr. Dawson gave some wonderful suggestions on conservation tips in the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, water leaks, water heater, lawn/garden, and emergency shutoff. Some of these suggestions included placing a filled bottle in the tank of the toilet to reduce water usage (more appropriate for older tanks), checking the supply hose to your washer, mulch garden beds to help maintain moisture, “plug” your yard (aerating clay soil helps get water to the roots, decreasing water usage), and knowing where your shut-off valve to the house is.

After an informative presentation, the Frederick Van Patten chapter continued to the business section of the meeting. The chapter looks to meet again in April.
